A good idea, Dia ! Like many others I don't have any spare cash at the moment but a lot of stuff I never use which could easily be turned into cash for the needy.

I've always been against charities as the burden always seems to fall on those who can least afford it. Governments should help where necessary and raise taxes if they have to - that way the burden will be more evenly shared with the rich buggers paying more.

You're a real sweetheart for thinking of other options. Great idea, and I'm sure other charity shops are doing the same thing. I know they did after the Tsunami. I agree with Gingercarrots about being made to feel guilty for not giving money. If you don't have it, you don't have it. Maybe some will disagree with me.

I will look up there store in my area when I get home. Thank you for the idea. I haven't donated any cash yet. To be honest you've hit the nail on the head there, not everyone can! Everywhere I go I'm sort of "guilted" into giving something, what do ya do when you have nothing to give? Thank you for always thinking of others and how they are feeling and thinking. Most websites assume everyone can give "something". That's what they all say, "I know you can give something, maybe 10 dollars, just 10 dollars?" No, I can't afford to give 10 dollars, but what I can do is take a look around my apartment to see what I can give away.

That's a great idea Dia! With the recession happening, it isn't hard to believe that people don't have as much as they would like to donate money wise, but everyone has something around the house they don't use anymore. It's a nice to be able to help, and your idea is a way everyone can help.
